Terms of use
Effective October 24, 2026
Magnetday is free, open-source software that runs on your own devices. These terms cover the software, this website and the waitlist.
1. Agreement
By using magnetday.com, joining the waitlist, or installing and using the Magnetday software, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t use them.
2. License
The Magnetday software is licensed under the Apache License 2.0. You may use, modify and share it under that license. Where these terms and the license differ about the software, the license governs.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Magnetday or this website to break the law, to access calendars or accounts you aren’t allowed to, to interfere with or overload the website or any future Magnetday service, or to send spam or sign other people up for the waitlist without their permission. When you connect Google Calendar, you also agree to follow Google’s terms.
4. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for the devices and accounts you use with Magnetday, such as your Google account or your Home Assistant, and for the calendar you connect and the events in it. Keep them secure and up to date.
5. The Magnetday Panel
The Magnetday Panel is not yet on sale. Joining the waitlist is not a purchase, an order or a commitment, and the price shown is a planned price that may change. Its terms, including shipping and returns, will be published before it goes on sale.
6. Hardware and safety
E-ink panels such as the Seeed reTerminal E1002 are made and sold by their manufacturers under their own terms and warranties. If you mount a panel or tablet on a fridge, make sure it is secure. Neodymium magnets can pinch and are dangerous if swallowed; keep them away from small children and from pacemakers.
7. Third-party services
Magnetday works with services we don’t control, including Google Calendar, Home Assistant, Buttondown and Cloudflare. Your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
8. No warranty
Magnetday and this website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and that the software will be error-free or that events will always sync. A family calendar can miss things; don’t rely on it alone for anything critical, such as medication or legal deadlines.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Magnetday project and its contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for missed events, lost data, or lost profits, arising from your use of Magnetday or this website. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Some places don’t allow these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
10. Trademarks
Magnetday and its logo are the project’s marks. Home Assistant, Google, Skylight, Seeed and other names belong to their owners. Magnetday is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top shows the current version. If you keep using Magnetday or this website after a change, the new terms apply.
